The C-U Swedish Folk Ensemble

The C-U Swedish Folk Ensemble has been active since Spring 2009 when Zachary May returned from a semester in Sweden. During his time there, he studied Scandinavian folk music and dance extensively with fiddle player and dancer Kalle Eriksson and as a member of the V-Dala Spelmanslag in Uppsala, Sweden. Since returning, many local students have participated in the music, an in addition to playing several formal and informal functions with the group, Zach and Kalle were invited to present on the topic of Swedish folk music at the 2010 American String Teachers’ Association National Conference in California in February, 2010.
